Book Summary Notes: The Magic Of Thinking Big

  • Belief in your goals will allow others to believe and support you as well. The first step towards any goal should be belief in yourself.
  • Fact memorising is good but the ability to think creatively is far better. Fact memorisation can lead to rigid thinking while creative thinking allows our brains to become more flexible and adaptive.
  • Boosting your ability to think creatively can be achieved through 3 main ways; being receptive to new ideas, take every opportunity to try new things and take 10 minutes each morning to ask yourself the question “how can I do a better job today?”
  • Joining a group is often a great way to experience new things. Make sure if your joining a group that it is outside your usual friend circles and skillsets.
  • Try focus your energy on positivity. It can be tough but acting and thinking more positively can have profound life affects. You can use positive morning affirmations to help strengthen this idea.
  • Treat other people with respect. You never know whose support you will need in the future and a strong support network of friends and family is an important factor in lasting success.
  • Make it a goal to keep your environment as high quality as possible. Where you live, who you hang around with and what you read are all aspects of your environment. Have you ever heard that we are the sum of the 5 people closest to us? You are greatly affected by the company that you keep in life.
  • Watch your attitude. People will see your non verbal queues just as loudly as your spoken words. Often times body language and mannerisms can be perceived negatively even if we are keeping our mouth shut about something. Learn to control your non verbal communication effectively to avoid awkward future situations.
  • Fear is often self created, its all in your head. Fear can be the number one reason we often fail at things. Defeat it by becoming more confident. Start by adopting the body language and mannerisms of someone who is confident, even if it feels awkward at first, real confidence will soon follow.
  • Failures find excuses. Successful people learn the lesson and try again.
  • As you work your way towards your success, take some time to study your failures.
