Book Summary Notes: Organise Tomorrow Today – Dr Jason Selk
- Start small and focus on changing one bad habit at a time. Your habits are often the difference between where you are now and where you would like to be.
- Narrow your focus when your looking at goals. Again start small and set your first target, knock it down and set another. Try to start with the biggest bang for your buck goals first to maximise the benefits.
- Each evening take a minute to set yourself goals for the next day and don’t forget to prioritise them! 1-3 priorities is all most people need to set to feel productive.
- Break large goals into more palatable pieces. Set your priorities and schedule time to get them done. Finally make sure your plans are on paper. The human brain is for having ideas not storing them (GTD), so write it all down!
- Four tips for getting more out of your day; use down time wisely, especially time where your just waiting in line for something. Ask yourself can you just take the first step forwards on your project, what’s the first step? Then immediately do it. Time pressure can help you get things done, do you have a few short jobs to knock out? Maybe calls to make? Set a timer for 5 minutes and see how many you can knock out.
- Rituals and habits are how new behaviours stick so be sure to incorporate them into your routines.
- Try to focus more on process improvements rather than improving results.
- Get a handle on how you talk to yourself. Make your self talk positive and affirming, don’t be so hard on yourself.
