Book Summary Notes: The Miracle Morning
- The beginning of a happy and fulfilling life is your mornings, more specifically your morning routine.
- Most average Americans live a life far short of their possible potential. The majority of us tend to base on decisions on information gathered from our past, this can cause us to abandon or avoid taking part in new activities simply because we have no experience with it.
- To live a successful life you also cannot look at your choices in isolation. It can become easy to let ourselves off of the hook for say, missing a workout, but the result of that is that now we are the sort of person who occasionally misses workouts. Not only that but now we let ourselves off even easier next time.
- Having a purpose to wake up for each morning is one of the most effective ways to avoid needing to hit snooze. You can also hack your motivation for waking each morning with a proper morning routine.
- You can also try using evening affirmations for a morning boost out of bed, as well as the tried and true method putting your alarm somewhere out of reach so that you’ll need to get up to turn it off.
- Make sure that you drink at least a large glass of water to rehydrate each morning once your out of bed as well as brushing your teeth.
- You should try to begin your morning with meditation when possible. Meditation has many well established mental effects. Journaling is another important aspect to a morning routine, it can serve as an outlet for positive self talk or affirmations as well as a way to just get some of our thoughts on paper and out of our heads. Visualisation can be another important and powerful strategy for your journaling.
- Morning exercise is another core component for a well fleshed out morning routine. If time or space are limited these days places like YouTube offer a ton of great, short home exercise routines you can follow along with, maybe even try out something gentle to begin with such as Yoga or Pilates.
- Reading and writing can be important for things such as personal growth and also deserve consideration for your morning routine. You could even try combining some of the previous suggestions such as listening to an audiobook while either going for a short walk or bike ride to begin the day. If you decide to go the physical book route the author points out that 10 pages per day will see you read for about 20 mins and cover around 18 books on average per year.
- For best results you will need to establish a habit of doing this each morning. You can try having a partner hold you accountable or even perhaps join you in doing a routine if it helps you stick to it.
