Recovering from suffering is not like recovering from a disease. Many people don’t come out healed; they come out different.

Wisdom isn’t a body of information. It’s the moral quality of knowing what you don’t know and figuring out a way to handle your ignorance, uncertainty, and limitation.

The Road To Character Book Summary Notes:

  • Social media is all about the promotion of ‘me’. As we scroll or swipe all we see is pictures of people promoting themselves and the best moments of their lives.
  • Society used to value different attributes such as honesty and humility. The shameless self promotion that goes on in social media didn’t exist.
  • Each person is composed of two competing personality types. The extrovert and the introvert. Characterised by what is called Adam1 and Adam2 respectively.
  • Each person houses both personality types but often one overshadows the other.
  • Social media has also helped society to make the shift from valuing the introvert qualities of kindness, bravery and honesty to the extrovert quality of obsessing over ourselves.
  • By getting rid of our pride, accepting the help of friends and family and finally also admitting our own flaws we can begin to correct our internal balance and become more happy and fulfilled.
