Book Summary Notes:

  • Lack of energy and time are the two main problems faced when by people attempting to optimise their day.
  • The first thing you should do in the morning, instead of reaching for a coffee, is reach for a glass of water. During sleep the human body becomes very dehydrated. To get a little more bang for your buck add some lemon juice and a small pinch of sea salt.
  • Most breakfast foods are full of refined sugar and very little fiber. This can lead to triggering an early morning insulin response making you lethargic and irritable, not a great way to kick off your day.
  • The modern lifestyle robs us of many of the positive aspects that our ancestors enjoyed such as minerals, nutrients and good bacteria. Many of today’s food sources such as beef, dairy and eggs come from grain fed sources which lack many of the nutrients present in similar foods from animals able to graze freely. Many of our farmed plants and vegetables suffer from a similar fate in soil that isn’t given enough time to replenish it’s nutrient profile through natural fertilization and composting.
  • To bridge these gaps it may be necessary to use supplements. Upto a billion people worldwide are estimated to be low in vitamin D.
  • Naps can be a productivity hack. If its possible for you, a quick nap after lunch when your feeling the mid morning slump can be a perfect way to regain your focus.
  • Don’t neglect overall health in your training goals. Training can help reduce weight, combat depression and even promote better sleep.
  • Be sure to train the whole body if you lift weights. Muscle imbalances can be very difficult to correct later in life.
  • Studies have shown regular sex to help fight depression as well as a host of other things.
